Bilbo Baggins' personal journal and chronicle of the history of Middle Earth is officially known as The Red Book of Westmarch. Bound in red leather, this book is the original source of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.

I am in the process of recreating this prop from scratch, from the embossed leather cover to the hand-written pages. The cover design of this replica is based on the prop seen in the films, with a silver foiled star, Bilbo's monogram and a decorative embossed elvish border.

The contents will include an entirely re-worked version of The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings, condensed to fit into one book, written in the first persons of Bilbo, Frodo and Sam; and written in a special handwriting which simulates the invented script of Tolkien.

Each section will have its own unique handwriting, storytelling and drawing style. To the right is one of Frodo's pages, more elegant than Bilbo's hand, detailed with pencil sketches, while Bilbo's sections are entirely finished in pen-and-ink.
